Matt Hein Looking Forward To Returning Home To DCS; Aims For Record Sixth Career Royal Purple NSRA Winged Sprintcars Title
By Ben Deatherage
Roseburg, Oregon- In the last handful of years if there’s been a tidal wave of dominance by one single driver with the Royal Purple NSRA Winged Sprintcars and there is no doubt that Matt Hein has been that guy. Hein has won five championships with the series, including the past three consecutive, and has hoisted the trophy at practically every major paved Sprint Car race in the Pacific Northwest. On Saturday, May 20th, he and the Autolite Spark Plugs/Fram Filters/Coastline West Insulation/Cam Cat Tractors/Independent Motor Rebuilders/Long’s Building Supply/Oregon Tool & Supply of Roseburg and Coos Bay/Double R Powdercoating/Green Butte Vineyards/DVH Racing/Tsunami Concepts #98H Beast will return to Douglas County Speedway in his native Roseburg, Oregon for the Rick Brown Super Shoe. He has won the last two Super Shoes.

“It’s going to be so good to be back in front of all the fans and my family and put on a race for them,” said Hein, “we’ve had a fair amount of success the last few times we’ve been to Roseburg so we hope we can get the win Saturday.”

It will mark the first occasion since 2015 that Hein and team have competed at DCS. With a stacked field of competitors expected to run with the Royal Purple NSRA Winged Sprintcars in 2017 it appears that this will be a season to remember. If he manages to capture the championship it will be for a record sixth time breaking the tie with Rick Brown and himself.

Pit Gates open at Noon, Front Gates 4:00 PM, Qualifying is expected to get started around 4:30, and Racing begins at 5:41. For more information log on to www.douglascountyspeedway.com.
