Victoria, British Columbia- The Royal Purple NSRA Sprint Series would head to Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, on Friday, August 12th, to participate in the first night of the 2016 P&R Truck Centres Daffodil Cup. The facility would be Vancouver Island’s famed Western Speedway. Cars would come from all over the province of British Columbia while the American states of Oregon and Washington were also represented.

Polesitters Darren Yates, of Duncan, and Roseburg, Oregon’s Matt Hein would be involved in an unfortunate tangle on the first lap of the main event. On the ensuing restart, Randy DuBois would get to the front. The Poulsbo, Washington pilot would maintain the position for much of the race.

However, late in the feature Cobble Hill youngster Robbie Price would slowly reel in DuBois. With seven laps remaining Price, driving for car owner Rod Rendle, would get the lead and remain there the rest of the way. It would be Price’s second win of the campaign and his first since winning the season opener at Washington’s Ephrata Raceway Park in May.

Jeff Montgomery, out of Langford, was second while Darren Yates worked his way back up to third. Randy DuBois ended the evening into fourth and completing the top five would be Langley native Kyle Vantreight, in fifth.

Mitch Holte, of Veneta, Oregon, was the fastest driver in time trials. Heat race winners were Price and Vantreight.
